This Privacy Policy explains how Slippy Witch ("Slippy Witch," "we," "us," or "our") handles information when you use slippywitch.com (the "Website"), subscribe to the newsletter, or contact us.

1. Scope

This policy applies to information processed through the public Website, the newsletter signup, and administrator authentication. Public visitors do not need an account to browse recipes.

2. Information we collect

Newsletter information

If you subscribe, we collect the email address you provide and the consent/confirmation events associated with the subscription. Newsletter subscriptions use double opt-in, so the subscription is not active until you confirm through the email sent to you.

Administrator information

Administrator access is provided through a separate shared identity service. The Website may receive identity claims needed to authenticate and authorize administrators. Public visitors and newsletter subscribers are not required to create an administrator account.

Technical information

Our hosting and security providers may process technical information such as IP address, browser/device information, timestamps, request paths, and server/security logs as needed to operate and protect the Website.

Browser storage

The Website uses browser storage for user-requested features, such as remembering the last recipe search/filter URL and recipe progress/checkmarks. Administrator sessions also use a session cookie. See the Cookie Policy.

3. How we use information

We use information to operate and secure the Website, provide requested recipe features, administer the Website, deliver newsletter messages you requested, confirm newsletter subscriptions, respond to enquiries, prevent abuse, and comply with applicable legal obligations.

4. Newsletter and consent

Newsletter signup is voluntary. Before the signup can be submitted, the Website asks you to affirm that you want to receive recipe emails and occasional Slippy Witch updates and to acknowledge this Privacy Policy. We do not pre-check these choices.

After signup, we send a confirmation email. Your subscription remains pending until you use that confirmation link. Every marketing newsletter will provide an unsubscribe mechanism. You may withdraw newsletter consent at any time by unsubscribing.

5. Service providers

We use service providers to operate the Website and newsletter, including:

• DreamHost for website hosting and related infrastructure;
• Kit for newsletter signup, double opt-in, subscriber management, and email delivery;
• Google reCAPTCHA, where invoked by Kit's form protection, to reduce automated abuse; and
• Trustsera / the shared identity service for administrator authentication.

These providers process information under their own terms and privacy documentation and may process information in the United States or other jurisdictions where they operate.

6. Cookies and browser storage

Slippy Witch does not currently run advertising pixels or general website analytics. Strictly necessary or user-requested storage may still be used for sessions, security, preferences, and recipe features. Kit and its anti-abuse services may use cookies or similar technologies when you interact with the newsletter form. See the Cookie Policy for details.

7. Retention

Newsletter information is retained while your subscription is active and as reasonably necessary to maintain unsubscribe/suppression records, demonstrate consent, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and comply with law. Administrator session information is short-lived, while server/security logs may be retained according to hosting and security needs. Browser-stored recipe preferences remain on your device until you clear them or the Website removes them.

8. Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect information. No website, email service, or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure.

9. Privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, objection, withdrawal of consent, or other privacy rights. Send requests to info@slippywitch.com. We may need to verify your request and will respond as required by applicable law.

10. Children

The Website is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 through the newsletter. A parent or guardian who believes a child provided information may contact us.

11. Changes

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the Website, service providers, or applicable requirements. The revised policy will show a new "Last updated" date.
